A panel discussion with Young Women in Business

Last week, I had the opportunity to join a Q&A session with Young Women in Business and share about my role at Aritzia in eCommerce Marketing. It was an enjoyable experience to connect with emerging leaders and layout my career path with young professionals stepping into the workforce.

First of all, I want to thank Annika Foo and her team for hosting these events, enticing women to expand their network and helping them succeed in their careers. And of course, for letting me be part of the community.

Working in eCommerce was one of the reasons why I decided to move to Vancouver and enrol in a web design program. So being where I am is gratifying. Iā€™m often asked about what I do or what eComm marketing actually means. I feel it depends on the company, but my role consisted in two main areas; define the content strategy for key marketing initiatives and find new ways to elevate the customer experience encouraging the user to shop on the website.

Something that I learnt in the past two years, is that cross-functional collaboration and data storytelling are essential to have a deep understanding of how the customer shops and what are the areas of opportunity to educate, inspire and help the customer to navigate on the site. I realized how powerful it is to understand data to share your vision and bring recommendations to the team. This does not necessarily mean being an expert with specific tools such as Tableau or GA, but certainly being able to interpret KPIs and optimize the strategy based on performance.

The best takeaways I have in my career growth are being curious and always finding ways to expand your skillset, being a good listener, and encouraging people to give you feedback.
